Lead Designer

Timeline

The project spanned several months, with a phased approach to implementation to accommodate the different readiness levels of each team.

Overview

The Behavioral Correlation feature for ScienceLogic SL1 was a transformative initiative aimed at revolutionizing IT operations by providing real-time insights into complex IT infrastructures. As the Lead Designer, I managed the design direction, coordinating with six different development teams, each focusing on a specific feature. My role involved orchestrating the feasibility of the project, ensuring a collaborative effort across varying levels of readiness, and guiding the feature through a successful release.

My Role

As the Lead Designer, I was responsible for managing the entire design process, from initial research to final implementation. This included conducting user research, developing wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes, and leading QA testing. I worked closely with six development teams, each responsible for a different aspect of the project, and successfully brought these teams together to create a cohesive and enriched feature. Additionally, I collaborated with executive stakeholders, team leads, and senior managers to establish a realistic and successful release plan that would allow each team to build upon their feature as they progressed.

The Team

    The project involved collaboration between:

  • Six Development Teams: Each focusing on a specific feature within the Behavioral Correlation project.
  • Executive Stakeholders: Provided strategic direction and oversight.
  • Team Leads and Senior Managers: Ensured alignment with business objectives and technical feasibility.

The Scope of Work

The Behavioral Correlation feature was designed as a fully responsive solution for ScienceLogic SL1, aimed at providing IT operations with real-time insights and actionable recommendations. The project involved:

  • Developing a Real-Time Data Lake: Capturing diverse data types and their relationships.
  • Visualizing IT Services: Showing dependencies, health, availability, and risks.
  • Implementing Machine-Learning Techniques: Identifying root causes of issues and providing actionable recommendations.

Impact

The Behavioral Correlation feature was hailed as a “game-changing innovation” by ScienceLogic’s CEO, Dave Link. The system provided comprehensive visibility into IT environments, allowing decision-makers to quickly understand the impact, root causes, and priorities, ensuring that IT resources were focused on critical business needs. My leadership in managing the collaboration between multiple teams and stakeholders was crucial in delivering this groundbreaking solution.

"A game-changing innovation that buries the old-school, reactionary approach to IT event management."
