I’m really happy about the way I was brought up. I never thought I would say that I’d rather a poor childhood than a rich one. I was taught the value of a dollar and you can have everything you want, you just have to work really fucking hard for it. Food, education and a safe place to live supersedes any want at any second of the day. And when you do get nice things, you know better not to trash them. Hell, I still have my first car I worked full-time (& college full-time) to pay. It’s still hard for me to fathom getting rid of 10 year old clothes and shoes; at that point I ONLY donate them.
